Fantic unveiled the first Moto2 bike of its history

Veils removed on the first Fantic in history that will race the Moto2™ world championship, brought to the track by Celestino Vietti and Borja Gomez. Debut this weekend with the Portuguese GP.

Santa Maria di Sala (VE), March 22nd, 2023

First, the announcement of the entry into Moto2™, then its formalization with a preview display at EICMA 2022. Today, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Fantic Motor took the veils off the bike with which it will participate in its first World Speed Championship.

It did so by showcasing its series production because Fantic is not only racing but is a manufacturer of motorcycles and e-bikes, designed and developed to entertain riders of all ages, from the youngest to the most nostalgic.

After its national and international successes off-road (16 in the last two years alone, including enduro and motocross), Fantic decided to test itself in a new terrain, considered one of the highest expressions of motoring technology: speed. Thanks in part to the partnership signed with the VR46 Racing Team, the historic motorcycle brand is debuting in the intermediate class and is ready to take on a new challenge at circuits around the world, this time mounting smooth tires and getting down on the fairing.

The riders who lead Fantic to debut in the Moto2™ world championship are Celestino Vietti Ramus and Borja Gomez, two riders with different experiences but in perfect harmony with the Fantic Racing and VR46 Riders Academy philosophy of growing young motorcycling talent.

The team's management is in the hands of Claudio Giovanardi (Head of Racing Dpt.) and Stefano Bedon (Team Manager).

Celestino Vietti will face his third season in the Moto2 class, his sixth in MotoGP, where he boasts five wins, thirteen podiums, and four pole positions. He made his Moto3™ debut in 2018, finishing on the podium at the second race in the Phillip Island GP. After impressing well in the entry class of MotoGP, in 2021 comes his debut in Moto2™, where he asserts his qualities. In 2023 Celestino may have the opportunity to confirm himself at a high level.

Borja Gomez, on the other hand, except for last year's appearance at the Moto2™ GP in Malaysia, is making his MotoGP debut. Turning 18 in February, he won a Spanish title in the Superbike championship in the Supersport category. Starting this year, the talented Spaniard will have a full-time opportunity paired with Celestino Vietti in the Fantic Racing team.

Mariano Roman, CEO of Fantic Motor: "This is undoubtedly a milestone for Fantic. We want to show that the company's soul is racing, and racing is the best way to do that. This is an important challenge that we are excited to take on!"

Claudio Giovanardi, Head of Racing Dpt: "It is an experience that thrills us! But also one that motivates us to do things in the best possible way to be more competitive, race after race. Only the track will be able to judge us."

Stefano Bedon, team manager of Fantic Racing Moto2 Team: "I am happy and flattered to be part of the Fantic project. It is a company that is bursting with enthusiasm from all pores, and the same I can say about the Moto2 team with the focused and professional technicians who desire to do well but with a smile on their faces. I can say the same about the riders: Vietti is very strong and looking for confirmation in his third year in this class. Gomez is just turned 18 and has all the vigor and energy of that age. He is a burst of desire to emerge. He has a crazy charge: he could race in MotoE without a battery! We will try our best to put them in a position to get the results they expect and to make the Fantic brand look good."

Celestino Vietti, #13 Fantic Racing Team: "I was looking forward to getting going again after the winter break. I went from yellow/black to red/black, but the guys in the pit box are the same guys with whom I have achieved great chemistry in past years. I enjoyed the tests, where we worked hard, especially on the race pace. Now we just have to start the 2023 championship."

Borja Gomez #72 Fantic Racing Team: "This will be my first season in MotoGP and the Moto2™ class. I face it with a lot of desire to learn. I have to get familiar with the bike, learning new things also thanks to the technicians and mechanics. I want to improve as much as possible, race after race, without pressure."

The three days of official Irta testing at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao concluded the testing period for Moto2™. Now Fantic's first World Speed Championship can begin.

The year's first event is just in Portimao, for the Portuguese GP, March 24-26.

Vietti starts with a gap inherited from the previous season: he must serve two long lap penalties. However, the championship is very long, and points placings will be necessary for a rider like him who has high inspiration.

Gomez will be on his first day of school and can start expressing his potential, but, as a rookie, he will also have to try to learn the tracks and the best way of riding in a challenging class like Moto2™ because the bikes are all the same. The difference comes from the triangulation between each rider's head, heart, and wrist.
