Seventh place for Baltus, Canet in the points at Motegi

Fantic Racing remains at the top of the Teams’ Championship and now looks ahead to Indonesia.

The Japanese Grand Prix Sunday didn’t bring the results Fantic Racing had hoped for, but the team still starts the Asian tour with valuable points and maintains the lead in the Teams’ standings.

Barry Baltus had a strong start from the third row, immediately latching onto the leading group. Despite showing good pace, the Belgian wasn’t able to find the opportunity to move further up and crossed the line in seventh place.

The starting position was more challenging for Aron Canet but he made a strong launch from P22 that saw him climb to 18th place. The Spaniard kept pushing with a solid and consistent race, eventually breaking into the points and finishing 15th. He still sits third in the championship standings, with his teammate Barry Baltus following in fourth.

In the Teams’ Championship, Fantic Racing remains in the lead with a 29-point advantage over its closest rivals.

Now the focus shifts straight to next weekend: the Moto2 World Championship heads to Indonesia, where the team will aim to fight again at the sharp end of the field.

Barry Baltus:

“Starting from the third row and staying with the front group is always positive. Today we couldn’t quite make the pace to fight until the end, but we bring home important points and continue working for the next race. The team did an excellent job, and we are ready to hit the track in Indonesia with full determination.”

Aron Canet:

“It hasn’t been an easy weekend. We still have room for improvement, but I know that with the team’s work we can make a step forward already in Indonesia. We stay motivated and ready to give our all.”

Roberto Locatelli, Team Manager:

“For Baltus, it was a positive race: he started at the front and managed the pace well, even though in the end he lacked that final push to make a decisive attack. We’ll probably need to work from Friday to start strong and be ready to fight from the very beginning. For Canet, it was a tougher race: starting from the back in Moto2 makes everything more complicated, and you can’t aim for big results if you’re not in the right positions from the start. Our goal remains to be ready and up to the challenge, especially considering that last year Aron dominated on this track.”
