Maximum points for Cristino in the Junior class at the Assoluti

Kevin Cristino extends his lead in the Junior class thanks to a double victory on Sicilian soil. Great performances for the foreign class riders Axel Semb and Albin Norrbin, while Pietro Scardina took a second and a third place in the 125 class.

The second event of the 2024 Assoluti d’Italia was held on the 27th and 28th April in Caltanissetta, Sicily, valid as the third and fourth round of the top Italian Enduro Championship. The Sicilian weekend was characterized by high temperatures and a long and treacherous race course of over 30 km marked by three special tests, to be repeated four times on Saturday and three times on Sunday, for a total of 21 special tests over the weekend.

The Motoclub Fuorigiri designed a technical and challenging course, which included a Cross Test on a very long (4.20 km) and fast track characterized by hard and dusty terrain, followed by the extremely technical Enduro special test on mixed terrain (6.5 km in length) and a natural and rocky Extreme Test (4.5 km in length), as spectacular as treacherous with slow and technical sections.

In the Junior class, Kevin Cristino scored two stunning victories and leads the provisional standings with the points maximum. It was a dominant performance for Cristino on the Fantic XEF 250 as he gained an advantage of about a minute on the runner-up on both race days.

Albin Norrbin progressed throughout the weekend on the new fuel-injected Fantic XE 300 with Minarelli engine, scoring strong overall finishes in P8 and P7, while collecting a fifth and fourth place in the class for foreign riders. His fellow Swede Axel Semb showed a good performance as well, finishing in seventh and fifth position in the Foreigners’ class and entering the Top 8 of the Overall class on Sunday on his Fantic XEF 310.

The Fantic Junior Racing Enduro Team celebrated a second and a third place with Pietro Scardina in the 125 class, while his teammate Valentino Corsi is still forced to sit out due to a knee injury.

The Assoluti d'Italia Enduro will now take a break before returning on June 1st and 2nd in Spoleto for round 5 and 6 of the 2024 season.

KEVIN CRISTINO:

“The season is still long but I can say that I am satisfied with how it started. The double victory here in Caltanissetta was nice and I am currently leading the Junior class with the points maximum.”

ALBIN NORRBIN:

“The feeling with the new bike, the fuel-injected Fantic XE 300 with Minarelli engine, is becoming better and better and the results I got here in Caltanissetta are also a boost for the next EnduroGP in Romania in two weeks’ time.”

AXEL SEMB:

“Competing here at the Assoluti and especially in the Foreigners’ class with the top riders of the Enduro World Championship is very important for my growth. I managed to finish eighth overall on Sunday, while I scored a seventh and a fifth place in the Foreigners’ class.”

PIETRO SCARDINA:

“I am still not 100% fit due to my knee injury, but here in Caltanissetta I managed to get a great second and third place in the 125 class. Now I hope to recover in the best possible way for the Romanian GP.”
