Fantic Factory Racing MXGP’s Glenn Coldenhoff stepped onto the podium at the biggest race of the season, claiming third place with the Dutch squad at the 77th edition of the Motocross of Nations in Matterley Basin, Great Britain.
Glenn Coldenhoff continues to make history for Fantic. After securing the Italian brand’s first-ever MXGP qualifying race win earlier this season at his home GP in Arnhem, the Flying Dutchman made the podium at the prestigious Motocross of Nations. Coldenhoff, along with his Dutch teammates Kay de Wolf and Jeffrey Herlings, claimed third place for The Netherlands.
Racing aboard his Fantic XXF 450, Coldenhoff had strong jumps out of the gate, but the outside line through the first corner didn’t allow him to come out on top. In his first race (Open/MX2), he was running in 12th until a late tip-over with just two laps remaining dropped him to 18th. In the final race (Open/MXGP), a first-lap crash forced “The Hoff” to battle from the back of the field. Knowing what was at stake, Coldenhoff pushed hard, charging through the pack to finish 15th – securing a crucial result that helped put The Netherlands on the podium. An outstanding achievement that marks a successful end to Fantic’s first season back in the premier class of motocross.
Glenn Coldenhoff:
“The Motocross of Nations is always something special, I love competing in this event. The podium was amazing, I really enjoyed this one, especially after a season in which we missed out on that feeling. It is also the first podium for Fantic, that is great, and the bike was looking amazing. Representing The Netherlands is always an honor, I am proud of the team. We managed a podium, which was our goal. I went down late in the first moto and didn’t get a good result, so I knew I had to go for it in the second moto. My start was decent, but some other riders crashed in front of me and I couldn’t avoid them. When you are on the ground like this, and you know you still need a result, you kind of switch off your mind and just give everything. I felt quite good in that second moto after some struggles in the first race. To finish here on a high note is a very good feeling. I am looking forward to more of this next season.”
