Fantic Factory Racing MXGP’s Glenn Coldenhoff led the qualifying race at his home GP in Arnhem from start to finish, making history for the Italian brand by securing the first win for the Fantic XXF 450 in the MXGP World Championship, the premier class of Motocross.
Glenn Coldenhoff will line up from pole position at the MXGP of The Netherlands after an impressive performance in Saturday’s qualifying race. “The Hoff” narrowly missed out on the holeshot but sneaked into the lead on the run to the second corner. Holding off the likes of Romain Febvre and Jorge Prado, the Dutchman went on to claim a historic win in front of his home crowd – for the first time ever the Fantic XXF 450 crossed the finish line first in the FIM Motocross World Championship.
Glenn Coldenhoff:
“It’s an amazing day! I had a good start in the qualifying race and took the lead straight away. I tried to push in the beginning, but it has been a while since I was in that position, so I got a little nervous and was riding a bit tight. I tried to be smooth and save some energy, but in the end, that didn’t really work out. I had to push really hard, and I had to deal with the pressure because they were pushing hard behind me. With five laps to go, I said, ‘Now I need to make it happen!’ I had expected these results a bit earlier, but to do it here in front of my home crowd is amazing. The support was amazing, I could hear the Dutch fans all around the track. It is great for the team, as they have been working very hard, and for Fantic, of course, as it is the first-ever qualifying heat win for the brand. It is only Saturday though, so hopefully, we can do it again tomorrow.”
