EnduroGP: unstoppable Fantic at the Swedish GP

Fantic Racing riders were again protagonists. Amazing race for the home rider, Albin Norrbin. Jed Etchells confirmed his leadership in the Junior and Junior1 classes. Kevin Cristino leads the Youth class with total points with another double. Jane Daniels won both days and is the Women's class leader.

Skovde, June 3rd, 2023

Lights shone on the fourth of the seven events of the 2023 season of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship this weekend, from Thursday, 1st June to Saturday, 3rd June, in Skovde, Sweden, where Fantic Racing enduro teams' riders were engaged in both days of competition on a technical and challenging 58 km course, expertly designed for the occasion by the Moto Club FMCK Skovd, assisted by Track Inspector Maurizio Micheluz.

The Swedish GP was raced under the banner of a climate characterised by mild temperatures and predominantly sunny days that accompanied our top riders throughout the race weekend, engaged in facing the second Scandinavian GP scheduled for this season. Consequently, four special tests are to be repeated three times a day on the first and third lap (extreme, enduro1, enduro2 and cross-test) and three special tests on the second lap (enduro1, enduro2 and cross-test) for a total of 11 PS per race day, plus the Super Test on the evening of Thursday 1st June, based on the slightly shortened Extreme Test.

The Motoclub FMCK Skovd designed a long and high-performance race course for the occasion, which included in order an Extreme Test, half of which was located on the same track as the Suoer test and therefore full of artificial obstacles, and the other half in a forest for a total distance of 1 km, a first Enduro Test 6.5 km long, very technical and characterised by sandy terrain interspersed with roots in a forest, a second Enduro Test of 7 km, again inside a forest but with sandy soil mixed with roots and loose stones, made very spectacular by the presence along the route of very steep military ramps that for the occasion allowed our riders to engage in spectacular jumps that thrilled the large audience present.

At the end of the course, a very long Cross Test of over 6.5 km on hard and dusty flat terrain was valid as the last PS on the first and second lap and as the penultimate on the fourth lap of the day, which included the Extreme Test at the end instead.

Fantic Racing's home rider Albin Norrbin rode an incredible race with the Fantic XE 300. On Day One, after recovering from the initial 30-second penalty, he finished second in the Junior class and second in the Junior2 class. But it was on Day 2 that Albin Norrbin showed his great qualities and technical skills by taking the victory after recording seven best times in the Junior class out of the eleven special tests in the program. As a result, the Fantic rider also won the Junior2 class.

Jed Etchells, the JET Fantic Racing team rider, is currently the leader of the Junior class and the Junior1 class. On Friday, the British rider took the third step of the podium in the Junior class and won both days of competition in the Junior1 class.

With yet another double win, Kevin Cristino rode as a protagonist, despite a hard blow to his knee and is increasingly the leader of the Youth class with total points with his Fantic XE 125

The riders of the Woman class also started at Skovde, and our Jane Daniels, JET Fantic Racing rider, won both heats and is the leader of the provisional ranking, riding the Fantic XEF 250.

In the E3 class Lorenzo Macoritto, Fantic Racing's rider, rode two good days of racing, finishing in ninth position on Day One and tenth on Saturday.

There were also good performances for JET Fantic Racing's Harry Edmondson, with sixth and seventh place in the Junior class, and Fantic Racing's Valentino Corsi, who collected 23rd and 7th place in the Youth class.

After the Swedish GP, valid as the fourth round of the 2023 season, the next appointment is expected in a month in Gelnica, Slovakia, where the fifth round of the season will be staged from 30th June to 2nd July 2023.

Kevin Cristino: "Another one-two, the fourth this season. We are currently leading the provisional classification with total points."

Jane Daniels: "I'm really happy with this race weekend where we won both days, and now we are the provisional leader of the Woman class."

Albin Norrbin: "It was an incredible weekend; I wanted to thank all the spectators present who supported me at every PS and the whole team for their commitment throughout the GP. You were fantastic."

Jed Etchells: "Two wins in the Junior1 class but a third and a fourth place in the Junior class. We are still leaders in both classes and now focus on the next rounds."
