All set to create new memories in Spielberg

Austria will always hold special memories for Fantic Racing Moto2, as the team celebrated its first-ever GP victory at the Red Bull Ring in 2023. This year, the aim is to build on the strong form demonstrated by Aron Canet’s return to the podium at the British GP.

THE STORY SO FAR

Aron Canet arrives in Austria on the back of his Silverstone podium, capping off a strong weekend where he was competitive in every single session. The Fantic Racing Moto2 rider has clearly overcome the physical issues from earlier in the season and the setup challenges faced before the summer break. The Spaniard is in excellent shape and aims to maintain his strong form in Spielberg.

On the other hand, his teammate Xavi Cardelus is still dealing with the aftermath of the foot fracture he sustained in Assen. Silverstone proved challenging for him, so the goal is to improve his bike feel and complete the race without any physical issues in Spielberg this Sunday.

THE TRACK

The Red Bull Ring, located in Spielberg, Styria (Austria), is a high-speed and demanding circuit that delivers exciting racing action in both MotoGP and Formula 1. Originally built in 1969, the track was renovated and resumed operations in the 2011 season. It maintains the layout of the historic track, measuring 4.318 km in length, with 10 corners and a 65-meter elevation change.

MAIN SPONSOR

Mut Meccanica Tovo will feature as the Main Sponsor on the fairings of Canet and Cardelus at the Austrian GP.  A partner of the Fantic Racing Moto2 Team since 2023, the company has been a leader in the design and production of valves and HVAC systems for fifty years, representing Italian excellence.

Roberto Locatelli, Fantic Racing Moto2 Team Manager:

“The Red Bull Ring is a unique circuit, with only 10 corners and a distinctive layout, and not all riders like it. Aron Canet has already achieved two podiums here, which actually represents a relatively low percentage compared to the number of races he has participated in. That just shows how difficult it actually is to find the right feeling on this track. However, he is in great shape and continues to improve, so we are aiming high for the Austrian GP weekend. Xavi Cardelus will need to continue on his way to reach 100% again, hopefully without the physical challenges he faced in Silverstone.”
