LOCA’S IN(side)LAP – At the Misano GP, a home race for Fantic, Aron Canet made a special and meaningful tribute to Team Manager Roberto Locatelli by wearing a truly unique helmet. Let’s take a closer look at this heartfelt gesture.
The helmet wasn’t just a simple replica of the colors “Loca” wore when he won the 125cc World Championship in 2000. Aron Canet added a personal touch: after being exposed to light, the helmet glows in the dark, revealing Canet’s distinctive design. This special effect beautifully symbolizes the strong bond and harmony within the Fantic Racing Moto2 Team, which shone brightly on the podium as Canet secured a strong second-place finish at the San Marino Grand Prix.
It was a special moment for Roberto Locatelli, who summed it up in two words: “Emotion and glory. The emotion of seeing my helmet back on track after so many years, and the glory of watching it reach the podium.”
“Aron is like that. With him, you only experience strong emotions,” Locatelli added. “After so many years in the paddock, he is the first rider to come up with such a meaningful tribute. Everyone knows he is a top rider, you have all seen it on TV. For me, Aron Canet is the fastest rider in the class. But he is not just a great rider, he is a great person. Seeing my helmet at the Misano GP truly touched me, and it made me feel like a happy kid again. Our relationship has grown beyond that of a rider and team manager – we have become good friends. Aron is a special person, and while I hope he stays with us for many years, I also wish him to make it to the premier class of MotoGP.”
