Canet shines in Indonesia: from P21 to third, Baltus secures strong fourth place

Fantic Racing shines in Mandalika: Canet climbs 17 positions from P21, Baltus fights back into the top 5 after a tough start. Following Gonzalez’s disqualification, Canet takes the podium while Baltus finishes 4th.

The Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika International Circuit ended with two remarkable results for Fantic Racing, with Aron Canet stepping onto the podium in third place and Barry Baltus finishing fourth.

Canet delivered a spectacular race, staging an extraordinary comeback: starting from 21st on the grid, the Spaniard gained 17 positions in just eight laps. Already in the points after the opening lap, he broke into the top 10 by lap 6 and climbed into the top 5 by lap 8, before securing fourth position with one of the strongest race paces on track. After Gonzalez’s disqualification, his performance was rewarded with a well-deserved third place.

Barry Baltus also put in a strong race. Despite a difficult start that dropped him back to 15th, the Belgian fought back with determination. By mid-race he was up to seventh, and he kept pushing to claim fifth at the checkered flag. Following the post-race penalty for Gonzalez, Baltus was promoted to fourth, proving once again his resilience and fighting spirit despite the physical challenges faced throughout the weekend.

Thanks to the results of its riders, Fantic Racing further strengthens its leadership in the Team standings, extending the gap to 54 points with four rounds remaining in the season.

The next stop will be in two weeks’ time at Phillip Island for the Australian GP.

Aron Canet:

It was a tough weekend, but today we had an amazing race. We worked hard to achieve this result, and I want to thank the entire team for their constant trust and support.”

Barry Baltus:

“I’m happy with fifth place [fourth after another rider’s disqualification], even if I am a bit disappointed because I wanted more. After Friday afternoon, I never expected to finish here, but we showed we were one of the strongest on pace. I really enjoyed passing riders during the race, and with this rhythm we could have been on the podium. After such an intense weekend, with three days of almost no food, we can still be satisfied. Now it’s time to recover and get 100% ready to go for the first win of the season.”

Roberto Locatelli, Team Manager:

“It’s been a great Sunday. Aron delivered an extraordinary race, fully deserving the podium thanks to an incredible comeback. Barry also showed great determination with a solid performance. If our riders finished third and fourth, it was mainly due to a difficult qualifying session, because with our race pace we could have aimed for a double podium. I’m very happy with the whole team. We’ve made important steps forward that we need to put into practice already from Friday in Australia.”
