Good progress for Cardelus, no reward for Canet

The Grand Prix of Aragon started in a promising way for Fantic Racing Moto2, but Aron Canet was unable to capitalize on his front-row start. Xavi Cardelus crossed the finish line in 22nd after a solid race.

Aron Canet started from the front row for the seventh time in twelve races, aiming to fight for the podium once again, as he did in Silverstone and Spielberg. Unfortunately, a challenging start dropped him back a few positions. While trying to make up ground, he made a mistake in turn 8, resulting in a crash. Despite the disappointing outcome, the strong pace he showed throughout the weekend is encouraging for the upcoming GP in Misano, a home race for Fantic Racing Moto2.

His teammate, Xavi Cardelus, finished in 22nd place after a positive weekend of steady progress. His feeling with the bike continues to improve with each session, and the goal remains to close the gap to the points-scoring positions as quickly as possible.

Xavi CardelusI had hoped for more in the race, considering the final result. I missed some feeling in the opening laps and couldn’t push as much as I would have liked because the track conditions were tricky – outside the main line, it quickly became dangerous. However, overall, it was a positive weekend.”

Aron CanetIt was a tough day due to the track conditions, which ultimately led to a costly mistake. It is a shame because we had the potential to fight for the win today. We need to reset and put this disappointment quickly behind us to head to Misano even stronger.”

Roberto Locatelli, Fantic Racing Moto2 Team ManagerThe unfortunate outcome of this race hurts. We were all eager to bring home a great result, as we always work towards a single goal. Victory was within our reach, but we made a mistake and paid dearly for it. We showed great pace throughout the weekend. However, we now need to quickly turn the page because next Sunday, we are back on track in Misano. Being a home race for Fantic, we want to be back at the sharp end by fine-tuning the details. For Xavi, it was a weekend of progress. Looking at his data, we can see that he is doing a good job. He rode a solid race, battling with other riders.
