Fantic Racing crowned 2025 Moto2 Team World Champion

With a double Top-5 result in Portimão, the Italian team secures the title with one round to spare.

A historic day for Fantic Racing: with Aron Canet finishing fourth and Barry Baltus fifth at the Portuguese Grand Prix, the Italian squad clinches the 2025 Moto2™ Team World Championship with one race still to go.

An extraordinary milestone – the first world title for the Italian brand in the MotoGP World Championship paddock – crowning a season of outstanding performances built on consistency, speed, and true team spirit.

Over the course of the year, Barry Baltus and Aron Canet have taken 13 podium finishes, confirming Fantic Racing as one of the most competitive and consistent forces in the intermediate class.

At Portimão, Canet once again showcased his talent, staying in the fight for the podium until the very last lap. After a careful start, the Spaniard found his rhythm and joined the leading group of four, battling brilliantly to the end and finishing just shy of the podium in fourth place.

Barry Baltus, meanwhile, produced a remarkable comeback. After a difficult start that dropped him outside the Top 10, the Belgian rider fought back with determination, climbing steadily to fifth position and defending it smartly until the chequered flag.

With the 24 points scored today, Fantic Racing mathematically secures the 2025 Moto2™ Team World Championship, sealing an unforgettable season. In the riders’ standings, Baltus strengthens his hold on third place, while Canet moves up to fourth, underlining the depth and balance of the team’s performance.

This result is the outcome of hard work, passion, and unity – values that have made Fantic Racing one of the most solid and respected structures in the paddock.

Next week in Valencia, the final race of the season will be the perfect opportunity to celebrate a success written with heart, speed, and the determination of an extraordinary group.

Aron Canet:

“I can’t say I’m fully satisfied, because today I really wanted the podium. We had the pace to stay with the leaders until the end, but in the final laps I lacked that little extra to be able to attack. It’s still a solid race, with important points that allowed the team to secure the World Championship. The team has worked hard throughout the season, and this result is the fruit of their commitment and consistency. Now we look ahead to Valencia to close the year in the best possible way.”

Barry Baltus:

“We can’t be disappointed with today’s Top 5, especially after winning the Team World Championship. It shows how both sides of the garage worked perfectly all year, and this result is for them  for all the effort and passion they’ve put in. On my side, I’m a bit disappointed because I felt we had the pace to fight for the podium. The first corner didn’t go as planned – I had an issue with the front brake that cost me a few positions, dropping to P12. From there, I had to recover and managed to climb back to fifth. From 12th to 5th, it’s still a strong result. We were fast, competitive, and now I’m already focused on Valencia  where we’ll give everything to end the season on a high.”

Roberto Locatelli, Fantic Racing Moto2 Team Manager:

“We are World Champions, and the credit goes to all the team members. We have always praised the riders who ride the bikes, but if the Fantic Racing team is World Champion, it is thanks to the work of all the departments. Behind this achievement are two crews that collaborated, with technicians and mechanics who worked together to make the team the best in the world in 2025. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this project, and of course to the riders as well, who made us enjoy, sweat, and feel great excitement by winning races and achieving outstanding results.”
