Balaton: Canet to start from the second row, Baltus from the fifth

After a strong FP2 and a solid Q1, Aron Canet secures P6 while Barry Baltus takes fifteenth at the Balaton Park.

The qualifying day at Balaton Park ended with encouraging signs for the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego team, taking on the debut of the MotoGP World Championship in Hungary.

The Saturday began positively with the morning FP2, where Aron Canet immediately found a strong rhythm, setting the fastest lap of the session, while Barry Baltus closed in P9. Both riders managed to refine their set-up after yesterday’s challenges.

In Q1, the two Fantic riders showed consistency and speed, finishing second and third respectively and earning a spot in the decisive Q2.

In the final session, the battle for the top positions was fierce: Aron Canet, with a flying lap on his very last attempt, clinched sixth place, securing a second-row start for tomorrow’s race. Barry Baltus, still not in perfect physical shape, gritted his teeth and signed off with the fifteenth time, which will see him start from the fifth row on the grid.

Tomorrow, as the lights go out, all eyes will be on Canet and Baltus, ready to fight their way through on the brand-new Hungarian track.
