EGP: Fantic Racing teams’ triumph at the Finnish GP

Fantic is again the protagonist at the Finnish GP. Albin Norrbin and Jed Etchells share the victories in the Junior class and are the winners on both race days in the J2 and J1, respectively. Kevin Cristino is increasingly the leader in the Youth class with total points, and Jane Daniels also wins both race days and raises the class leader's table.

Heinola, May 28th, 2023

The 2023 FIM EnduroGP World Championship continues its program with the Finnish GP in Heinola, a small town just over 100 km from Helsinki.

A weekend characterised by a typically Scandinavian climate with low temperatures and frequent rains, which saw our riders compete in a challenging and demanding race made of three special tests to be repeated three times a day for a race course over 50 km long. The Finnish GP was opened by the Super Test on Friday evening, held inside the motocross track, which has hosted the MXGP Championship for years, in the presence of a large and festive audience of fans.

The Motoclub Heinolan Moottorikerho designed a challenging and selective race course for the occasion, which included a very slow and technical Cross Test of 3 km in an unusual location in a forest with sandy soil. After that, a 6 km Enduro Test, 8 km inside a forest with slippery and muddy terrain alternating with treacherous parts with stones and roots. In the end, an Extreme Test located inside the motocross track, with some jumps and artificial passages.

In the E3 class Lorenzo Macoritto, Fantic Racing's rider, closed in twelfth position on Saturday and eleventh on Sunday. In addition, the Friuli-based rider recorded incredible times in the Extreme Test throughout the race weekend.

Jed Etchells and Albin Norrbin were the protagonists in the Junior class. Jed, from the JET Fantic Racing team, the leader of the class, won on Saturday, while Albin, from the Fantic Racing team, on Sunday.

Etchells won both days in Junior 1 class, confirming his leadership with four wins out of six.

Then, in Junior 2, Norrbin scored a superb one-two. After that, four-in-a-row wins for the Swedish catapulted him straight to the top of the standings.

Excellent performance for Harry Edmondson, JET Fantic Racing, who finished in third position, his first podium of the season, on Saturday and in fourth position on the following race day in the Junior1 class.

With the one-two in the Finnish GP, Kevin Cristino riding the Fantic XE 125 is increasingly the leader of the Youth class with total points; the Fantic Racing Team rider has dominated the two race days, distancing his direct opponents considerably.

On the other hand, with the team’s agreement, his teammate Valentino Corsi decided to recover from injury and race only in Sweden.

The women's world championship also returned to Heinola. Jane Daniels, JET Fantic Racing rider, won both heats with the Fantic XEF 250 and is the leader of the ranking. The reigning champion dominated the Woman class, being also the fastest in almost all special tests.

The Enduro Circus does not stop and, after the Finnish GP, is already on its way to Skovde in Sweden, where the fourth round of the 2023 season will be held from 1st to 3rd June.

Albin Norrbin: “We are working hard, and the results are starting to arrive.  I am happy with my performance over the race weekend, and the victory on Sunday was very exciting.”

Jed Etchells: “Two victories in the Junior1 class and a first and second place in the Junior. We are currently working perfectly with the team, and the feeling with the bike is excellent. Now we focus on doing well at the Swedish GP.”

Kevin Cristino: “Another one-two, the third this season, but we must stay focused and keep working hard.”

Harry Edmondson: “After a not-very-satisfying start to the season in Finland, my first podium of the season arrived. I am very satisfied with Saturday's result and fourth place on Sunday.”
