Austin (Texas, USA), 15th April 2023
Fantic starts again from three.
At its third GP, the factory from Santa Maria di Sala crowns the first of its dreams by getting the first Pole Position of its history in the MotoGP World Championship, class Moto2.
On the tough American track of Austin, where last year he got the second-fastest time on the grid, Celestino Vietti accomplished the feat with the time of 2.09.432.
Borja Gomez, dealing with the most cryptic track of the calendar, will start from the 9th row tomorrow. The Spanish rookie improved session by session but he will have to work hard facing an uphill race tomorrow.
Celestino Vietti: "It's a good result: an injection of confidence after the second half of the season in 2022 and six months of efforts. I am happy for Fantic and proud to be the first rider in history to get this result. Tomorrow it will be a difficult race, we will have to manage everything well and in detail because may be we would not be the strongest, but we can fight”
Borja Gomez: "The qualifying session finished after a challenging day. We improved compared to yesterday, especially in FP3. It's a shame about qualifying: I would have expected something more. Tomorrow it will be a tough race for me. I want to recover as many positions as possible because I know I am faster than that."
