Fifth consecutive front-row start for Fantic’s Canet

At the Buriram Circuit, Fantic Racing Moto2’s Aron Canet clinched another valuable front-row start, his fourth in the last five races.

Aron Canet continues to demonstrate his impressive form. In Thailand, the 25-year-old Spaniard set the pace on day one before securing second place in the crucial qualifying session, a mere 0.051 seconds shy of pole position.

Meanwhile, Xavi Cardelus continues to build experience in his first full Moto2 World Championship season. He will be aiming for a strong race starting from row 8, as he moved up to 24th on the grid following a penalty applied to another rider.

Aron Canet

"I’m very happy, we’re really strong. Every lap we do, the performance improves. This feeling is amazing. I’ve never felt like this in my career, either in Moto3 or in previous seasons in Moto2. We are a great team, I’m very comfortable with the Fantic Racing Team and my head coach Jairo Carriles. We have a great potential for tomorrow and after the GP of Australia, I want to take my revenge. From Silverstone onwards we have made a big step forward. I don’t think about the title, only tomorrow’s race, I will give my 100%."

Roberto Locatelli, Fantic Racing Moto2 Team Manager:

"We are very satisfied with this qualification. Xavi Cardelus did a good job. He made some good steps forward during the various rounds and almost got into Q2, missing by only 3 tenths. Canet came close to pole and only a minor hole in turn 12 made him lose time. We are still among the favorites for tomorrow’s race."
