Fantic Cardoso Racing extends JuniorGP lead with Moto2 victory

An impressive win, combined with a solid fourth-place finish at MotorLand Aragón, sees Fantic Cardoso Racing’s Roberto García extend his lead in the Moto2 European Championship to 19 points, with just one round remaining.

Fantic Cardoso Racing continues to demonstrate its strong form. The team, led by José Luis Cardoso, emerged from the penultimate round of the Moto2 European Championship in a stronger position, with Roberto García not only maintaining his lead in the standings but increasing his advantage.

Two Moto2 races were scheduled at Alcañiz. In the first, Roberto made a fast start from tenth on the grid and climbed to sixth on the opening lap. Shortly after, the Andalusian rider continued his charge, even taking the lead. His pace was strong, but tyre wear became a factor in the final laps. Ultimately, García finished fourth, just half a second behind the winner.

In the second race, Roberto was the clear favourite for victory right from the start. He delivered a consistent performance to take his fourth win of the season. Additionally, García set the fastest lap in both races. The Fantic Cardoso Racing rider now leads the championship standings with a 19-point advantage over the second-placed rider. The title will be decided in the final round of the season at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia on 24th November.

Roberto García: “I am really happy, especially with the win in the second race, which gives us a good advantage heading into Valencia. Managing this weekend was crucial, and the team worked really well every day. It is great to be back on the podium. A big thank you to the team, my family, and the sponsors.”

José Luis Cardoso: “We are very pleased. It has been a tough weekend for everyone, but the result is very positive. Going into Valencia, we have a solid advantage as leaders. After a complicated first race, Roberto executed a great strategy in the second, managing both the race and tyre wear well. He has learned a lot, and the result is well deserved. Many thanks to our sponsors and everyone who makes this possible, as well as to the team for their hard work. On to Valencia!”
