Simone Mancini dominates the Italian Rookies Cup in Ponte a Egola

Simone Mancini put his Fantic XX 125 on the top step of the podium one more time, going 1-1 at the second round of the Rookies Cup in Ponte a Egola to extend his championship lead.

After his podium finish in the Italian GP in Maggiora one week ago, Simone Mancini was back in action in Ponte a Egola for round 2 of the Rookies Cup, a highly competitive series for young and promising riders on their 125 cc machines held alongside the Italian Motocross Prestige Championship.

The 16-year-old Italian was off to a fast start and claimed the pole position before dominating race 1 from start to finish. In race 2, the fight for the lead was more intense and the conditions were extremely tough after the heavy rain but, once again, Mancini came out victorious to extend his points lead in the overall standings.

Now Fantic Factory Racing EMX125’s focus shifts to the highly anticipated Junior World Championship scheduled on the 13th and 14th July in Heerde in the Netherlands. The EMX125 European Championship, which sees Zanocz and Mancini in first and third place and Fantic leading the constructors’ standings, will instead resume on the 10th and 11th August in Uddevalla in Sweden.

Simone Mancini:

“I managed to secure the pole and win race 1 in the dry on Saturday. For race 2 on Sunday, the track conditions changed completely. It was extremely difficult because of the heavy rain that fallen overnight. It was very demanding, out of 40 riders only three of us completed the full race distance. In the end, I managed to win race 2 as well, so it was a good weekend.”

Daniele Marchese, Fantic Factory Racing EMX125 Team Manager:

“In Ponte a Egola, we saw another amazing performance by Simone Mancini. As for Noel Zanocz, we decided to skip the Italian championship in order to focus on the training in the sand straight away. Mancini will also join him in Belgium in the coming days, as we are preparing for the Junior World Championship, a unique and highly anticipated event that awards an important title, and the remainder of an exciting season. As of today, both of our boys are in the fight for the EMX125 crown.”
