The "Circuito do Estoril" hosted the second round of the 2024 Moto2 European Championship and Fantic Cardoso Racing's Roberto Garcia grabbed a maiden win in race 2 on Sunday. He is also second in the championship, just three points off the leader.

Mixed weather conditions made the race weekend in Portugal extra challenging and unpredictable but didn’t slow Fantic Cardoso Racing down. The first Moto2 race was held in the wet and saw a strong comeback by Roberto Garcia. Starting from P15 on the grid, the Andalusian rider managed a sixth-place finish, gaining nine positions in just eleven laps in the rain, despite some discomfort in his right shoulder caused by Saturday’s crash.
 
The rain then stopped and the track dried up for the second race. In completely different conditions Roberto was able to prove that he was the fastest on track. Launching off from P15, in fact, it only took him one lap to fight his way into third position. The Fantic Cardoso Racing rider set an unmatchable pace for the others and went on to win the race, setting also the fastest lap time in 1:39.468.

Roberto Garcia: "I'm very happy to get my first win in Moto2, we started from the back and we knew we had the pace to catch the front guys early. I managed to take the lead from the beginning and in the last laps I was able to gain even more advantage, so we are very happy. Many thanks to all my team and everyone who supports me, and I would like to dedicate this victory to my mother, as Sunday was her day".

José Luis Cardoso: "Between Fantic and Cardoso Racing, a collaboration began in 2023 with the aim of accompanying young talents to the World Championship. We chose the FIM JuniorGP European Moto2 Championship as the starting point. Fantic’s trust in us was fundamental. We have worked to grow more and more, both on a technical and human level, to ensure that our rider, in this case Roberto Garcia, arrives at the highest level. Last year was a year of preparation, in which we gathered experience. This year he is much more mature. He proved it in Misano where he finished second and in Estoril he won on Sunday. He started from the back of the grid and then managed to win by showing a great race. We did a good job, so we can get more data also for Fantic Moto2. We are proud to help young people on this path alongside Fantic Racing."
