Unlucky end to a strong weekend in Japan

After a promising beginning to the weekend for Aron Canet, who secured another front-row start, rain began to fall right at the start of the race at the Motegi Circuit, compromising the final result for both Fantic Racing Moto2 Team riders.

The weekend in Japan began well for Fantic Racing Moto2, with Aron Canet showcasing his competitiveness. The Spaniard qualified with the second-fastest time for Q2 and continued his strong run to finish third in the qualifying session, securing another front-row start. However, the race was affected by changing weather conditions. As the riders completed the sighting lap, rain began to fall at the Circuit of Motegi, prompting race direction to display the red flag.

Back at the box, the Fantic Racing Team riders both switched to wet tyres – like most of the grid – as it seemed to be the more appropriate choice at that time, given the raindrops and overcast conditions. As the race restarted, riders on slick tyres appeared disadvantaged, struggling to keep their bikes on track. The rain stopped soon after, though, and the track dried quickly, making it a challenging GP for Canet with his rain tyre setup. Aron was still able to complete the race, but despite his best efforts, he just missed out on points and finished 16th.

Xavi Cardelus, who had gone for the same tyre choice as his teammate, faced similar difficulties and finished 25th. His result, like Canet’s, did not reflect the potential he could have shown under more favorable conditions.
