From the Moto2 Japanese GP until the end of this season, Italian rider Mattia Casadei takes over from Borja Gomez in the Fantic Racing team.

Santa Maria di Sala, September 24, 2023

Fantic announces that Mattia Casadei, the reigning MotoE World Champion, will join Celestino Vietti for the upcoming Japanese GP until the end of the 2023 season.

Born in Rimini on July 2, 1999, Mattia debuted in 2008 on minibikes. In 2010, he became Italian champion, a title he repeated the following year. The same year, he also won the European title.

In 2018, he won the Rookie of the Year title in the CIV 600 Supersport, and the following year, he made his debut in the MotoE world championship. His first victories in this class came in 2022, in the French and San Marino GPs.

Impressive victory in this year's MotoE World Championship: Mattia, in the second half of the season, is the protagonist of a relentless comeback, and with five wins and two podiums in the last seven races, he becomes champion at his home circuit on September 9th. 9 will also be his race number.

Except for a wild card in the San Marino GP in 2021, the 24-year-old from Rimini has never raced in Moto2. Mattia will have seven weekends to get to know the bike and Dunlop tires, as he has always used Michelin in MotoE.

Fantic thanks Borja Gomez and wishes him a successful continuation of his career. The young Spaniard lived his debut year in MotoGP with commitment and seriousness. Still, unfortunately, the class proved to be more challenging than expected for him, who is very young and talented.

Mattia Casadei: "I am very happy to be able to race the Moto2 World Championship with Fantic Racing, who I thank for the trust they have given me. I will try to make the most of this wonderful opportunity by giving the best of myself."
