The Ciriè rider's weekend was one of the best in the championship. Vietti was among the protagonists from the first free practice on Friday, even taking pole position on Saturday.
In the race, Celestino started well from the first box, finding himself in second position after the first lap. The pace of the leading group was swift, with the Fantic Racing team No. 13 setting the fastest lap of the race.
Vietti tried until the last to attack the first position. Still, he lost contact with the rider in the lead due to borderline maneuvers, ending the race in second place.
Today is the first Italian podium in Moto2 for Fantic Motor, which, after the fantastic victory in Austria, continues its series of positive performances in MotoGP 2023.
The team will now move on to India for the next championship round.
Celestino Vietti: "Well, what can I say? The podium at home is always something special. The affection and support of the fans this weekend charged me a lot. I would have liked to be able to give them a victory. The team's work was great. We could close our gap with Acosta to fight all the way. Unfortunately, the front tire got so hot, and I started to lose grip in the final phase of the race, but I gave it everything I could."
Borja Gomez: "This weekend was complicated. I struggled to find my rhythm initially, but we improved on Saturday. I fought with a small group in the race, gaining a few positions. We will work for India, which will be an unknown for everyone."
