The MotoGP tour of Asia continues with the Indonesian GP.
The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit will be the scene of the fifteenth round of the season, the first of a triptych that also includes the Australian and Thai GPs.
The circuit is part of the Mandalika resort, from which it takes its name. It was inaugurated in 2021, and the MotoGP debuted the following year. The track covers 4.3 km with 17 corners: 11 right and 6 left, with the longest straight being 723 meters.
Celestino Vietti cannot repeat last year's excellent performance when he took second place after starting from seventh on the grid. The Piedmontese rider is still recovering from the accident he suffered at the start of the Indian GP three weeks ago.
In his place, there will be Lorenzo Baldassari, forming an all-Italian team with Mattia Casadei. The 26-year-old rider, who rode in WorldSBK this year, will return to the Moto2 World Championship after a two-year absence. However, Lorenzo has been an expert in the Moto2 class, counting five victories with current Fantic chief technician Jairo Carriles.
After his debut in the past Japanese GP, Mattia Casadei will continue his apprenticeship in Moto2 instead.
