Moto2 Dutch GP, race: Vietti in the top 10. Slip for Gomez

Assen, June 25, 2023

The Assen GP concludes the trio of races before the summer break.

The Moto2 race was affected by very high temperatures that significantly lowered grip and changed the game compared to yesterday.

Celestino Vietti started from the ninth box due to contact at the second corner and finished in sixteenth place. Really a pity because Celestino then recovered to eighth place, managing the race and staying in the fight for the top positions with good times. Vietti had to safeguard his tire to avoid unnecessary risks during the comeback due to the intense heat.
He received a long lap penalty on the last lap, which caused him to finish in 10th place, securing another top-10 finish.

Borja Gomez, in his first test at the university of motorcycling, was struggling with a small group when he slipped on lap 19.

After June's three consecutive grand prix, which began with the Italian GP in Mugello, the championship now gets a summer break. The next race is scheduled for the weekend of August 4-6 in England at the Silverstone track.

Celestino Vietti: “Unfortunately, once again, I had a bad start, and that's why I stayed behind the first few laps. The pace was good, and we recovered as much as possible, but it was not enough. Now there is a rest period, so we can work some more to be ready for Silverstone."
