Podium finishes for Cristino and Scardina at the Assoluti d’Italia

Kevin Cristino continues to lead the Junior class after a win and a second place on the two race days in Spoleto. Albin Norrbin scored good results in the Overall and Foreigners’ classes, while Pietro Scardina finished twice in second place in the 125 class.

The third stop of the 2024 Assoluti d’Italia saw the best Enduro riders battle it out in Spoleto on the 1st and 2nd of June for round 5 and 6 of the series. The Prologue in the beautiful setting of the historic centre of the Umbrian town opened the race weekend on Friday evening. The Moto Club Spoleto, assisted by Track Inspector Mario Rinaldi, designed a race course worthy of a world championship round which attracted a considerable crowd throughout the weekend.

The race course consisted of three technical and demanding special tests, to be repeated four times on Saturday and three times on Sunday – a 4 km long Cross Test on a grass field, followed by a spectacular and demanding Extreme Test of 1.5 km, and a 5.5 km long Enduro Test in a forest with hard and slippery ground.

In the Junior class, Kevin Cristino took second place on Saturday and an impressive victory on Sunday. The Italian and his Fantic XEF 250 still lead the way in the championship standings. Fantic Junior Racing Enduro’s Pietro Scardina stepped on the podium in the 125 class twice. The youngster finished in second on both of the days.

Strong showing for Albin Norrbin as well, with a ninth overall on Saturday. In the class for foreign riders, the Swede managed two sixth places aboard the new fuel-injected Fantic XE 300 with Minarelli engine. Again in the Foreigners’ class, Axel Semb scored a ninth and a tenth place among the top riders, while Jed Etchells collected two eighth-place finishes.

ALBIN NORRBIN: “It was a tough one here in Spoleto for the third round of the Assoluti. It was not easy to get good times in the special tests and I am happy with ninth overall on Saturday.”

AXEL SEMB: “It wasn’t my best race weekend but I am still happy with the feeling with the new bike. Now full focus on the Italian GP in three weeks’ time.”

KEVIN CRISTINO: “I am happy with my performance here in Spoleto. On Saturday it was more difficult, also because my main rival was really fast. On Sunday I managed to win and set some very good times.”

PIETRO SCARDINA: “I am recovering from the injury I picked up at the beginning of the season and here in Spoleto I managed to get two amazing second places in the 125 class.”

After a long break of over three months, the Assoluti d'Italia Enduro will be back with the fourth and penultimate round of the season in Pistoia on the 28th and 29th of September.
