Bad luck for Hakon Osterhagen at the GP of Finland

The Fantic Racing MX team rider demonstrated determination, a strong race pace, and good starts but did not receive the deserved rewards.

Vantaa, July 30th, 2023

After only seven days, it was time to return to the track for the fourteenth round of the season, which took place in Finland at the sandy track of Vantaa. The Fantic Racing MX Team was represented only by Hakon Osterhagen in the MX2.

On Saturday, the sand in Vantaa was heavily soaked with rain, making it challenging to interpret.

In the time practice, Hakon found a solid race pace, considering that the rider got back to racing after a long injury and immediately showed incredible speed, securing him the 13th time.

In Saturday’s RAM Qualifying Race, Osterhagen struggled initially and lost some positions. Still, after a couple of laps, Hakon set an excellent race pace and could work his way up, qualifying twelfth.

In Race1, after a solid start where Hakon stretched away to reach the fourth position, he was affected by a crash, and the following rider hit his Fantic XXF 250, broking the radiator. Osterhagen tried to take off again but was forced to abandon the race.

The second moto saw an excellent start for Hakon again, but the Norwegian rider crashed in this heat and had to leave the scene right after that.

The Fantic Factory MX Team will have a one-week break before the next race in Sweden on the 12th – 13th of August.

Marco Maddii: “The racing day was unlucky for Hakon, with two crashes and two withdrawals. We’re sorry about it because he showed a great rhythm on the time lap and was the author of two solid starts where he could reach the top riders of the category. We’ve to start again being aware that we can get great results in the MX2, and we’ll keep working to reach our goals”.
