The Turkish GP, the seventeenth round of the MXGP World Championship, will take place at the Afyon Motor Sports Center this weekend. The venue will host the penultimate and final rounds for EMX250 and WMX, respectively.
It is a physical, 1.725-kilometer-long track with hard terrain, and the weather conditions may play an important role for the riders.
EMX250
The Fantic Racing MX team shows up with its three riders in the European Championship: Cas Valk, Alexis Fueri, and Hakon Osterhagen.
Valk has won three out of the last four races and is currently in excellent form. The Dutchman, reigning continental champion in the 125 class, debuted this year in the 250 European Championship on his Fantic XX 250 and can aim for second place overall.
Fueri is on the verge of a top-10 finish and can score crucial points in Turkey.
Osterhagen faces his third grand prix in EMX250, his fifth of the season after those in the MX2 world championship in Belgium and Finland. The Norwegian will make the most of the Turkish weekend to confirm the physical improvements.
WMX
The GP of Turkey brings the women's motocross world championship journey to an end. Lynn is already familiar with the Afyon Motor Sports Center circuit, having come close to the third place in last year's race. The Dutch is fourth in the championship standings and arrives at this final event charged up, trying to do her best to achieve the final podium, relying on her excellent feeling with her Fantic XXF 250.
Marco Maddii (Fantic Racing MX Team Manager): "Of the four riders involved, only the Valk brothers know the Afyon track. Cas had made his MX2 world championship debut last year with a wild card, going straight to the points. It will be a new experience for Hakon and Alexis, on the other hand, but they excel on technical tracks like the Turkish one. We have a challenging weekend ahead of us, but there are all the prerequisites to come home with good results."
